Background

JProf.'in Dr Svenja Flechtner studied languages, economics and cultural studies (diploma) as well as Governance & Public Policy/Staatswissenschaften (Bachelor) in Passau and Paris and earned her doctorate at the European University of Flensburg. Her dissertation on "Aspirations and the persistence of poverty and inequalities" received the Egon-Matzner Prize for Socioeconomics 2017. Svenja is junior professor for Plural Economics at the University of Siegen. Previously, she was a postdoctoral fellow in the Economics Department of the Latin America Institute at Freie Universität Berlin. From 2014-2018, she was a member of the board of the European Association for Evolutionary Political Economy (EAEPE).
